What is the route to Chimino’s Island Lodge?

In the event that you arrive by plane you can land at the municipal strip in Sayaxché and by helicopter at our heliport close to the hotel. Please communicate with us so we can provide you with the proper coordinates. We can assist you in arranging airplane and helicopter services.

You can get to Chimino’s in a 45-60 minute drive from Flores to Sayaxche.

From there you will take a boat in a 1 ½ hour interesting river cruise to Lake Petexbatún. Arriving to Peten can be done by a 45 minute jet flight from Guatemala City, Cancun or other international departures to Flores International Airport, or by the recently paved road in a 6 ½ hour drive from Guatemala City. New luxury buses cover this route in 1 ½ hours more. Call or e-mail us for details and arrangements.

How can I make a reservation?

High Season (Easter Week, August, November, December)

Adults: US$ 135.00 per person per day

Kids: US$ 75.00 per child under 12 per day

 

Regular Season (Rest of the Year)

Adults: US$ 110.00 per person per day

Kids: US$ 55.00 per child under 12 per day

 

Full board (lodging, breakfast, lunch and dinner) included in price as well as visit to the Punta de Chiminos site, use of canoes, fishing rods and walk through the pathways within the premises.

“Chiminos Island Lodge needs full payment of our services at least 2 weeks after we confirm availability. No reservation is confirmed until payment has been received by the lodge. Cancelation Policy: Your payment is refundable if you cancel your reservation at least 60 days prior to arrival. Refundable by 50% if cancelled 30 days prior to arrival and not refundable if cancelled only 30 days prior to arrival.”

Activities?

At Chimino’s Island Lodge you can combine your ecological and archaeological interests with the opportunity to relax in beautiful and peaceful surroundings.

On-Site activities include fishing, swimming, canoeing and bird-watching. You can also hit the hiking trails that take you into the jungle and to the Mayan Citadel. It’s almost like being the discoverer of this Mayan site! Different tours to nearby Mayan Sites are also available and recommended. The region has been under heavy investigation by famous archaeologist Arthur Demarest, Takeshi Inomata and their colleagues during the Petexbatun Archaeological Project . 

Fishing & Swimming?

Right there from our floating dock, you can get your catch of the day or make a splash and enjoy the fresh waters! You can also troll to marvelous fishing areas right there in the lagoon where you can catch robalo, blanco (petenia esplendida, a delicious white fish exclusive to the region) and some other edible varieties also found in the lagoon and nearby rivers.
